Is Monkey Swallows the Universe the first band you've been in?
The first and will be the last! The one and only.

Favourite moment in the band so far?
Sharing a stage (and dressing room!) with Badly Drawn Boy and others at the 'Across the Tracks' festival back in July or else sitting in a box at the City Varities in Leeds watching Richard Hawley having just supported him on tour.  Awesome.

What are you currently listening to?
Howling Bells and new Arcade Fire.  Also, share the love for Sheffield band Corleone.

Best gig you've been to?
Smashing Pumpkins and The Verve at Brixton Academy, 1993.

How long have you been playing the cello?
About 20 years!

Any instruments you wish you could play?
The trombone and the tuba. I'm gonna learn the double bass.

What do you do when you're not Monkeying around?
I recently qualified as a Primary School teacher which gives me licence to try my hand at just about anything!

Do you get nervous before / during a gig?
Invariably

Who are your heroes?
Donald Bradman, David Bowie and Droopy.

If not music, what would you be doing?
Teaching?! If I'd been less lazy I might have been an architect living in the South of France by now.
